Activity Poem: Saggy, Baggy Elephant

Page history last edited by Meredith Ann Pierce 16 years ago

"Saggy, Baggy Elephant"

Another seated activity poem about elephants that works well for Preschool / Kindergarten audiences.

The elephant has a trunk for a nose.

Up and down is the way it goes.

He wears such a saggy, baggy hide,

Do you think TWO elephants hide inside?

(lift arm like an elephant's trunk)

(wave arm slowly up and down)

(grasp the skin on your ribs)

(hold up two fingers)

"Saggy, Baggy Elephant" also works with Baby / Toddler audiences, although children in this younger age group need to be guided in the motions by their caregivers.

He wears such a saggy, baggy hide,

Do you think TWO elephants hide inside?

(lift child's arm to be the elephant's trunk)

(wave child's arm gently up and down)

(gently grasp the skin or clothing on the child's ribs)

(look child; hold up two fingers)
