Activity Poem: You Can't Hug a Hippo

Page history last edited by Meredith Ann Pierce 16 years ago

"You Can't Hug a Hippo"

An expansive activity poem for Preschoolers and Kindergarteners.  Can be performed standing.  You can substitute another big animal if you with.

Now you can't hug a hippo

     'Cause he's just too big:

Rounder than a rainbarrel,

     Fatter than a pig.

Taller than a wall

      And broader than a bed--

You'll just have to let the hippo

     Hug you instead!

(one finger wagging)

(hands thrown up)

(arms form a circle)

(nodding)

(one hand indicates height of a wall)

(hands spread wide)

(hands on hips)

(hug self, big smile)
