Basic Formula

Greet your audience, then identify yourself, your institution (the Library), and your purpose.  Include your last name for only if parents are present.  The younger your audience, the slower and simpler you should make your introduction.

Sample Spiel

Good morning, everybody!  Welcome to the Libarry.  I'm so glad you could come.  My name is Jane, and I'm here to read you some storeis, sing songs, and teach you some finger games.  Does that sound like fun?  Let's get started!

Tip

Notice how the exact particulars of the introduction are less important than establishing rapport with the audience at the same time you loosen up and relax.  Not to worry.  It's going to be fine.  The audience is here to have a good time--and so should you!
