"Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed"

 

This energetic fingerplay that will have Early Elementary audiences bouncing on their bottoms.  It's a great way to liven up a storytime and works for Preschool / Kindergarten kids as well.  Feel free to substitute any animal you please.

 

 

Five little monkeys jumping on the bed.

One fell off and bumped his head.

    Mama called the doctor; the doctor said,

    "No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"


Four little dinosaurs jumping on the bed.

One fell off and bumped her head.

     Daddy called the doctor; the doctor said,

     "No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"


Three little monkeys. . . .

     . . . his head / Mama. . . .


Two little monkeys. . . .

     . . . her head / Daddy. . . .


One little monkey. . . .

     . . . his head / Mama. . . .


No little dinosaurs jumping on the bed.

None fell off or bumped their head.

     Daddy smiled at Mama, and Mama said,

     "Thanks very much for not jumping on the bed!" 

(Five fingers.  Hand jumps.)

(One finger "falls."  Slap forehead.)

(Hands on hips.  Forefinger "arrives.")

(Waggle forefinger accusingly.)


(Four fingers.  Jump hand.)

(Finger "falls."  Slap forehead.)

(Cross arms.  Forefinger "arrives.")

(Waggle forefinger.)





(etc.)






(Fist jumps up and down.)

(Shrug.  Big smile.)

(Cross arms.  Then hands on hips.)

(Clap for joy, then applaud.)
