Fingerplay: Pigs

Page history last edited by Meredith Ann Pierce 15 years, 3 months ago

"Pigs"

A playful fingerplay for Preschool / Kindergarten storytime about mothers and babies.

Two mother pigs lived in a pen.

Each had four babies--that makes ten.

These little pigs were black and white.

These little pigs were black as night.

All eight babies loved to play,

So they rolled and they rolled in the mud all day!

(hold up 2 thumbs)

(8 fingers, then all 10 digits)

(wiggle fingers of one hand)

(wiggle fingers of other hand)

(wiggle all eight fingers)

(roll hands one over the other)

Feel free to substitute other farm animals--just be sure to get the baby-count right.  (Horses don't have litters, for example.  So don't give a mare four colts.)

Below is a variation using sheep.  Be sure to explain up front that a mama sheep is called a ewe.

Five ewe sheep slept in a pen.

Each had a lambkin--that makes ten.

These five sheep were fluffy white.

These five sheep were black as night.

All ten sheep loved to play,

So they gamboled and they frolicked

In the meadow all day!

(wiggle fingers of one hand)

(wiggle fingers of other hand)

(wiggle fingers of first hand)

(wiggle fingers of second hand)

(wiggle all ten fingers)

(hands move over & over, up & down)
