"This Is My Turtle"

Turtles make great subjects for fingerplays, especially for Preschoolers and Kindergarteners because it's easy to form the hand into a turtle-shape.

This is my turtle.

    He lives in a shell.

He likes his home

     So very well.

He pokes his head out

     When he wants to eat,

And pulls it back in,

     When he wants to sleep.

(make a fist; partially extend thumb)

(tap gently on "shell")

(stroke "shell")

(fully extend thumb)

(circle thumb around)

(hide thumb in fist)
